Terms of Service

Version 3.1 — Effective: April 17, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between Tutora (the "Platform"), operated by the Service Provider identified in Section 15, and any user accessing or using tutora.hu. By creating an account or booking a Service, you accept these Terms.

1. The Platform

Tutora is an online marketplace that connects:

Experts — independent professionals offering knowledge-based services such as tutoring, academic preparation, language coaching, business consulting, executive coaching, life coaching, mentoring, professional skill workshops, training, creative instruction, technical advice, language exchange, and similar services delivered live or asynchronously.
Clients — individuals or organisations who book and receive those Services.

Tutora is not a party to the contract between Expert and Client. Tutora provides the technical platform, payment processing, scheduling, communication, and dispute facilitation. The Service itself is provided by the Expert as an independent contractor.

1.1 Excluded Services

The Platform may not be used to offer or book regulated services that require a specific licence in Hungary or the Client's jurisdiction, including but not limited to:

Licensed medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment
Licensed legal representation in litigation
Licensed financial investment advice or asset management
Any service requiring a regulated professional title without holding that title

Coaching, mentoring, general wellness conversations, study help, and educational content are permitted as long as they do not constitute regulated practice.

2. Account and Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old. Users under 18 need parental consent.
You must provide accurate registration information.
One person = one account. Multiple accounts are prohibited.
Experts must additionally complete identity verification and (if applicable) qualification verification.

3. Booking, Payment, and Pricing

3.1 Booking

Clients book Services through the Platform. Booking is binding upon successful payment.
Prices are set by the Expert and shown including any applicable VAT.
The currency is HUF unless otherwise displayed.

3.2 Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. Funds are held until the Service is delivered.
The Platform charges a service fee to Experts, deducted from each payout. The current fee schedule is shown in the Expert dashboard.
Payouts to Experts are made via Stripe Connect Express, typically within 2–7 business days after Service completion.

3.3 Pricing Transparency

All prices shown to Clients are final and inclusive of VAT where applicable.
No hidden fees are added at checkout.

4. Cancellation and Refund Policy

We operate a fair cancellation policy that protects both sides, but each expert can set their own policy:

4.1 Statutory Right of Withdrawal (EU consumers)

Under Government Decree 45/2014. (II. 26.) implementing Directive 2011/83/EU, consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts.

Important exception: Where a Service is fully performed within the 14-day window with the consumer's express prior consent, the right of withdrawal lapses (Decree 45/2014 § 29(1)(a)). By booking a Session that takes place within 14 days, you give such consent and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal expires once the Session is delivered.

4.2 Disputes

Disputes can be raised within 48 hours after a Session via the in-app dispute system. The Platform investigates and may issue partial or full refunds, mediate, or escalate. Decisions are made within 7 business days.

5. Conduct and Content Rules

You agree not to:

Harass, threaten, discriminate against, or harm any user
Share illegal, infringing, sexually explicit, or hateful content
Misrepresent qualifications, identity, or service capability
Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the Platform's infrastructure
Use the Platform to provide regulated services without proper licence (see Section 1.1)

Violation may result in warning, suspension, permanent ban, withholding of payouts, and legal action.

6. Reviews

Only Clients who have completed a paid Session may leave a review.
Reviews must be honest and based on personal experience.
Reviews containing personal data, hate speech, or false claims will be removed.
Experts may publicly respond once per review.

7. Invoicing (Experts)

Experts in Hungary are independently responsible for issuing tax-compliant invoices to Clients in accordance with Act C of 2000 (Számv. tv.) and Act CXXVII of 2007 (Áfa tv.).

Tutora provides a Billing Summary ("Számlázási Összesítő") in the Expert dashboard as a reference. This summary is not a tax invoice.
Experts may connect their Számlázz.hu or Billingo account for automated invoice issuance.
Experts are responsible for VAT registration thresholds, KATA / private entrepreneur compliance, and reporting their income.
Tutora does not act as the seller of the Service for tax purposes — the Expert is the seller. Tutora invoices its service fee separately to the Expert.

8. Intellectual Property

The Platform, its design, branding, and code are owned by the Service Provider identified in Section 15.
Experts retain ownership of their teaching materials, course content, and intellectual property.
By posting content (profile, bio, materials), you grant Tutora a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on the Platform for operational purposes.

9. Recordings

Live Sessions may be recorded only with the explicit consent of all participants. Recordings are stored on EU infrastructure (Hetzner) and accessible only to Session participants. Use of recordings outside the Platform requires consent from every participant.

10. Liability

Tutora provides the marketplace "as is" and is not liable for the quality or outcome of Services provided by Experts.
Tutora's aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid through the Platform in the 12 months preceding the claim, except where Hungarian law mandates higher liability (e.g. wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury).
Force majeure (power outages, internet disruption, regulatory action, war, pandemic) excuses delayed or non-performance.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. Account deletion is available in the dashboard.
Tutora may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these Terms with notice, except in cases of severe breach (fraud, harassment, off-platform circumvention) where suspension is immediate.
Pending payouts for delivered Services are paid out subject to dispute resolution. Pending payouts associated with cancelled or fraudulent Services may be withheld.

12. Changes to These Terms

Material changes are notified by email and in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept the new Terms, you may terminate your account. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary.
Consumer disputes may be resolved through the Budapest Conciliation Body (Budapesti Békéltető Testület — bekeltet.bkik.hu) or the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/odr).
All other disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hungarian courts competent at the registered seat of the Service Provider.
