How to choose a private tutor on Tutora, step by step
Describe what you want to learn and we suggest up to three experts. Then check their profiles: what they teach, at what price and when they're free.
Choosing a private tutor isn't always easy. One has the introduction you like, another the price, a third happens to be free when you are. Here is how to go about it on Tutora, step by step.
What do you want to achieve?
Before you look for an expert, put what you want into one sentence: you're preparing for an exam, you want to reach a language level, or you'd like to learn a new skill.
If you have a concrete goal and a deadline, you can also get a plan for it in your Passport. Answer four short questions and you get the steps, an estimated cost based on experts' current prices, and the experts who fit your goal and have open times. Building a plan is free; you need an account to save it.
How do you know who fits you?
You don't need to know which category to look in. Describe in your own words, in Hungarian or English, what you want to learn and when you're free. You don't need to sign up for this.
From that, we suggest up to three experts and tell you why each one fits your description. A suggestion is a starting point: look at the experts' profiles before you decide.
What should you check on a profile?
Every expert's profile has four tabs:
- Overview: who they are and what they offer, in short.
- Services: what they teach and what a session costs.
- About: their introduction.
- Calendar: when they're free.
Near the top of the profile you also see their free times in the next seven days. Click one and the calendar opens with that time selected.
If the expert uploaded an intro video, you can watch it too. If you have a question, you can message them once you're signed in.
What if none of the times work?
Ask for a time. You can suggest up to three times, each at least 24 hours ahead and within the next 28 days.
The expert has 48 hours to accept one or to suggest another time, once. If they accept one, it's held for you for 24 hours so you can book and pay.
When is your lesson confirmed?
When you pay. Single lessons and lesson packages are confirmed the moment you pay, so there's no waiting for the expert to accept.
When you're ready, browse the experts, or describe what you want to learn and we'll suggest a few who fit.
