Finishing Your Expert Account: The Complete Checklist
A step-by-step guide to completing your Expert profile on Tutora — from photo and bio to taxonomy, verification and badge eligibility.

Registering an expert account on Tutora takes only a moment – but completing it thoroughly is what brings in real clients. A half-finished profile won't appear in search results, will be left off the homepage, and students will simply scroll past it.
This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process so your profile becomes searchable, credible, and even eligible for Premium status.
1. Profile Picture
Your photo is the first thing students see. Tutora requires a directly uploaded, personal image (the system does not use your Google account profile picture anywhere).
Tip: Use a square (1:1 ratio), well-lit, friendly headshot. Smile and look into the camera! This image will appear everywhere, from search result cards to the video learning space.
2. Display Name and Headline
Display name: This is what clients will see.
Headline (Motto): This is your one-line introduction. Keep it short (around 80 characters) and focus on who and what you offer. Example: "Conversational Spanish coach for adults – informal lessons, no homework."
3. Detailed Introduction
Aim for a 150–400 word text that covers the following:
Who do you help? (Target audience)
What do you teach? (Services)
How do you work? (What is the vibe of a typical lesson?)
What is your background? (Qualifications, experience – in everyday, understandable language)
Avoid dry, corporate jargon! Students are booking an appointment with a real person, not a resume.
4. Categories and Specialties
Tutora's search engine is built on a structured system: Category → Subcategory → Specialty. Only choose categories that you actually teach, not the ones you merely could teach.
Warning: Adding categories in which you are not active will hurt your search ranking in the long run. The system favors experts whose bookings, reviews, and profile categories perfectly align.
5. Spoken Languages
Add all the languages in which you can easily conduct a full lesson, and set the appropriate level (Native / Fluent / Conversational). This section powers the language filter in the search, so it is much more important than you might think!
6. Pricing
Set your default hourly rate in HUF. Although you can overwrite this individually for specific services later, this will be your baseline. Round numbers (e.g., 8,000 HUF) look much cleaner and more trustworthy than fractional amounts (e.g., 7,850 HUF).
7. Default Availability (Calendar)
Select the time slots when you are usually available. This will serve as the template that you can easily apply to your calendar week by week, so you don't have to rebuild your schedule from scratch every single week.
8. Verification Documents
Upload your ID and documents proving your qualifications (if any). The Verified badge is independent of the Certified and Premium badges.
9. Stripe Connect Integration
Without a connected Stripe account, you cannot accept paid bookings. We have created a separate guide for setting this up:
Setting up a Stripe Connect account10. Creating at least one Service
Even a perfectly completed profile will remain invisible if it has no bookable services. If you've made it this far, read our next article:
Adding Services and Time SlotsAll set? Once you see a green checkmark next to all 10 points, your profile will be added to the search engine and will be eligible to appear on the homepage.
